The next morning we had a great breakfast at the hotel, then set out on our journey back to Reykjavik. We had about 175 kilometers to do, and we wanted to be back at the car rental place before noon. We stopped a few times on the way back. The scenery was quite similar to what we had seen before along the coast, and the driving was pretty easy (at least until we reached the edge of Reykjavik). Here are three panoramic photos of the scenery on the way to the city.
Once we reached the edge of the city, we turned on the GPS unit from Nordic Visitor and it already had the rental place loaded. We followed its instructions and reached the rental agency with very little trouble. We turned in the car and filled out all the necessary paperwork, and they took us to the same hotel we stayed in at the start of the week. We checked in and then went for a walk around Reykjavik. The weather was much much better than it had been when we arrived, so we were comfortable wandering around the city. I had my camera and I took a lot of snapshots of anything that looked interesting to me, so here are a few of them. I don't know the specific locations of any of them, but they were all within easy walking distance of our hotel.
This photo, the last one in this show, was taken as we strolled along the harbor path. We enjoyed the trip greatly, although we could have packed a little better for the weather we encountered. Still, we were warm enough, and we liked Iceland a lot. If I were to go back there, I would opt to spend more time in a couple of locations and try to see those areas in more depth. Ultimately we spent too much time driving.
